HIV/AIDS

News, June 2010

Palliative care plays a vital role in the ongoing care of children living with HIV and AIDS.    While the availability of ARVs for children has increased worldwide, there are thousands that still do not have access to these drugs.  Many children on HAART still suffer from both acute and persistent pain and experience complications as a result of the virus. Even more  have needs outside of the purely physical manifestations of the disease, such as a need for bereavement counselling, counselling around HIV disclosure, dealing with bias and stigmatism, social support and assistance with compliance and adherence.

We would like to encourage our members to share any news and resources they may have with us by writing to the Information Officer at info@icpcn.co.za who will be happy to add relevant links, documents and information to this page of the website.
